The Ombudsman of Belize and Commissioner of Police Sign Memorandum of Understanding
The Ombudsman of Belize Mr. Lionel Arzu and the Commissioner of Police Mr. Allen Whylie today Tuesday 26 January 2016 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) at the Racoon Street Police Station, Belize City. The purpose of the MOU is to strengthen cooperation between the offices of the Ombudsman and the Commissioner of Police in the areas of protection and promotion of Human Rights and on the principles of rule of law, mutual equality and reciprocity. The ombudsman reiterated his commitment to the process and welcomes the collaboration between the offices and pledges his unwavering support in the areas of investigation of complaint, training in law enforcement, Human Rights, public education among others. The commissioner also reiterated his commitment to the process and pledges his support for the collaboration between his office and that of the Ombudsman saying that this is just one of the many avenues we are embarking on in the pursuit of justice for all.
